Show Yourself Some Love with an At-Home Spa Day

2020 was a challenging year for many of us, so if you’re looking forward to making 2021 a better experience, start by prioritizing time for self-care. If you’re not feeling comfortable venturing out for an in-person spa day, you can still treat yourself to a relaxing day from the comfort of home. Looking for inspiration to plan a luxurious day of R&R? Here, we share a few of our favorite ideas for at-home treatments that mimic the spa experience:

Combine Bath and Mask Time

If you enjoy a long soak in the tub, make it extra indulgent by applying a face and neck mask before you step in. While you’re basking in the warm water, your skin will reap the benefits provided by your hydrating mask of choice. To make the environment feel even more spa-like, consider adding some aromatic herbs such as rosemary or chamomile to the water.

Treat Your Skin to a Dry Brushing Session

You can enjoy an at-home dry brushing session any time: all you need is the right brush to make it possible. Dry brushes are typically inexpensive and available from a host of online retailers, and your local drugstore may even carry them. Once you have your brush, gently exfoliate your skin and stimulate collagen production by starting at the tops of your feet and brushing in an upward motion as you move to different areas of the body.

Use an Oil Diffuser

Even if you’re just doing routine care, you can enhance the occasion by turning on an oil diffuser. If you’re seeking relaxation, try putting a few drops of lavender or Ylang Ylang essential oil in the diffuser. In addition to making your home smell heavenly, these essential oils may help you achieve a higher sense of calmness and contentment.

Put on a Cooling Mask

If you miss luxury spa treatments and are looking for ways to replicate your favorite services, consider investing in a cooling sleep mask. This gel bead therapeutic mask can be placed in the refrigerator or freezer before use and is excellent for reducing puffiness of tired eyes. Since it’s a sleep mask, you can leave it on as long as you’d like for an extra refreshing night of sleep.
